Lili eats!

Lili's first food was sweet potato, just like her brother. (The blog post about Joey's first time eating)

Here is Joey:

And here is Lili:

We were steaming sweet potato for Lili, and homemade carnitas tamales and green beans for the rest of us.

And a video of her playing with and eating a little sweet potato:

Lili now has tried sweet potato, banana, carrot, apple (sauce), blueberries, celery, and oatmeal. She seems to like them all except perhaps the celery and maybe sweet potato.

(by the way, Lili sounds like she says "Mama" sometimes too, but it's not clear like it was in the Joey video from the link above. She is two months younger than he was in that video, though.)

I'm so glad you posted this demonstration that sweet potato can be steamed. I had been worrying about what I was going to do with it, since I wanted it to be Alice's first food, too, and thought it was too soft to be steamed.

Her little "what in the heck?" face is cracking me up.

Yep, sweet potato is great for steaming (carrot too)! It becomes soft but not mush.
